  1. you should try raising your endurance

  2. not at all, sorry. As for getting better there is nothing you can really do in a week. Just try to run faster and push yourself harder in the race. No offense but i am better then u and im a girl.

  3. For an athlete, it's not too good. A sub 5 mile is good.

For a "normal" person it's really good. Idk what you are.

  4. well, to tell you the truth, for the 400, it is not okay cause most people in  8th grade can run at least 58 seconds or better.

  5. Nothing extraordinary, but that is good for a first time. Just keep running if you want to improve.

  6. I'm not on any running team and my mile time is 5:49, which would turn out to be around a 5:30 1500M. So your time won't get you top spots. But  it is okay.

For a person overall that's a good time. Don't listen to Fasterthanyouthink, she's basing you off very fast people.

  7. you should look on national rankings lists and see how you rank compared to everyone else.

  8. 1:10 is decent for a ninth grader...

    eh well maybe.

someone at my school last year ran the 400 in about 50 seconds...

what you have to to is understand the science of running the 400.

theres something about using all your energy in the first 200 and using pure momentum in the last 200. oh ad the best get faster as they go, not slower.

    study the science!

  9. that isn't particularly good, the 1500 is 100m shorter than the mile and so about 17 seconds faster, that means your mile is about 6:07. For a freshman a good mile is about 5:10 so about 4:48 in the 1500. your 400 time is a little better, but if you keep working you should try to get it under 60s. There isn't really anything you can do at this point to get better except to prepare for the race well, hydrate a lot the day of, don't drink soda or other carbonated or caffinated drinks, get a lot of sleep. Eating pasta and carb-loading won't help because in a race as short as the 1500 you don't use carbs that you have stored.

  10. is it pretty good.

i know someone who can do it in 5 minutes.

just keep running and practicing the race before tuesday.

my friend who can run it in 5 min's time got a better time each time he ran it.

  11. 5:50 isn't really spectacular, but I will say that you can improve your time by Tuesday.

First, I want you to eat pasta every day of the week until the race.  I don't care what kind really, just some kind of pasta dish preferably with meat.  Pasta is full of complex carbs for great long distance energy.  The protein helps for muscle repair.

Next, I want you to have a goal time in mind.  5:40? 5:30? what do you think you are capable of?  Now picture yourself running a 5:30 or whatever.  That is about 83 seconds per lap.  Focus on that time.  Believe you can acheive that time. Know you can acheive that time.  When you get to the start time, realize that this is what you have to do.

On race day, be smart.  Stay hydrated, use the crapper, etc.  DON'T GO OUT TOO FAST.  It is good to go out fastER on the first lap in order to give yourself a chance, but don't cross that lactic acid threshold too early.  Keep a steady pace, and find someone to run with.  Just stay focused.  If you start to get tired, just concentrate more on your goal.

Finally, I'm going to leave you with some good Steve Pre quotes.  GOOD LUCK!

"A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more. Nobody is going to win a 5,000 meter race after running an easy 2 miles. Not with me. If I lose forcing the pace all the way, well, at least I can live with myself."

"How does a kid from Coos Bay, with one leg longer than the other win races? All my life people have been telling me, 'You're too small Pre', 'You're not fast enough Pre', 'Give up your foolish dream Steve'. But they forgot something, I HAVE TO WIN."

"Somebody may beat me, but they are going to have to bleed to do it."
