  1. The idea behind the hole full of lint and water is to capture the lint and the steam.  There used to be a deal that was a bucket with a vented lid.  The dryer hose attached to the top of the bucket and you kept an inch or so of water in the bottom of the bucket.  The water caught the lint and condensed most of the steam.  If the bucket got to full of either it quit working and your clothes wouldn't dry.

So just clean out the hole and see what happens.  It'll probably take care of the problem but boy it sounds nasty!

  2. I am confused as to why you have a tube in the ground from your dryer.  Your dryer should have a lint clean out on the top or front of your dryer.  Make sure that is cleaned after every couple of loads. The pipe running from your dryer should vent to the outside, but should not go into the ground.  The whole point is to vent the moisture to the outside air.  Not only is it costing you money and not drying your clothes it could cause a fire.  Lint building up in the vent pipe could catch fire.  If this does not help lean on your landlord.

  3. My dads dryer done something like that..You will probably have to get a new dryer.. Or try turning down the heat

  4. The hose outside should vent to the air. Not be obstructed by anything.  When you dry the clothes, the moisture must go somewhere and if it is in the ground, it will not go out of the dryer fast enough to dry the clothes.
