You are the managaing Director of Trio Consulting. You received a fax from Mr Jim, president of Max Co. He wants to reward his top management by taking them on an all-expenses-paid expedition. He would like your co. to organise and lead the expedition.

The expedition should be to the Etosha Game Reserve from July 20 to 28 at a cost not exceeding R1 200 000. At the same time he would like to make a special contribution to the local residents by stimulating job creation and entrepreneurship.

Mr Jim has asked you to develop the following for presentation to the management board of his company.

(a) Project proposal

(b) Project plan

The project proposal should cover the most important reasons for executing the project with special reference to the press (newspapers) and the local residents. The project plan should cover the task to be executed, duration of each task, the start and finish dates of each task, the required resources of each task and cost involved in each task.

You can do this.  What is the first thing you do.  You call the airlines and ask the cost for the trip. Can they handle 10 passengers July 20 and July 28.  Then book the trip.  Figure out how you will pay. Will Mr Jim pay the airline or will you pay and be reimbursed.  Then call the newspaper and talk to a reporter. Call the tv station too.  THen call the Embassy for Etosha's home country.  Any visas needed.  Do you get them or does each management person get their own.  Ask for the Minister of Culture in Etosha and ask for the name of an orphanage or school that you can donate to.  WOuld you rather give money or schoolbooks.When everyone arrives inEtosha, everyone gets to have fun but have one day where the management delivers food to a poor section of town.

You can do this.  Make up the costs.  No one is going to check your figures.
