Please be honest and help with this name!

Question

OK. I am 24 wks with my first little angel and she is a girl.

The father and I have had the worst time agreeing on a name.

He is from Lousiana and I am from Flordia...(very different taste) ahah!

We have decided on a first name Neely.

The problem is... he wants to use my middle name Jean for her!

I can't stand that! Neely Jean??? NO! that's so country!

I like Neely Kate.

Please tell me what you think. And be honest. The first name is already set in stone so please dont make mean remarks about it or suggestions to change it. I need help with the middle name.

And keep in mind that we live in the SOUTH and tend to be a bit southern.

I suggest that you scrap both (though I like Neely Kate) and look through a name book together and bounce new names off each other back and fourth until you find one you both like. I think maybe a name that is a little longer like Neely Madison or something would work better.

I personally like Kate better.  You're right, Neely Jean is a little plain, but pretty.  Are their good nicknames for Neely?  u could call her nelly, neel, etc.  Good luck!!!!!!

is neely from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn?  And its Irish, right?  It's actually not a bad name.  It sounds kind of cute, but a little like "neil", which would be cute if u had twins, a boy and a girl, neil and neely : )

I think Neely Jean - is an adorable name... and it will work when she older also.

if you don't like the sound it makes together, just remember how many times do you actually say your complete full name anyways?!

If your middle name is already Jean then what's the point of it being your baby's? I'd really hate that! I love Neely Kate and at the end of the day it should be a mother's decision so good luck xx

I don't think there is anything wrong with Neely Jean. Yes, it does sound a little bit like a little country girl name, but it is also very charming. Also, it's your middle name! That's special.

My middle name is the same as my mom's and the same as my great-grammas and the same as her mom, etc, etc. It would have been my daughter's middle name if we weren't have a baby boy.

The name I would have picked was Gracie Mae. Yes it sounds a little country all together, but how often are people going to be hollering out your daughter's first and middle name??

Also, Jean has meaning. What is the purpose of Kate? Just a name you chose that sounds pretty? Nothing wrong with that, but I prefer names that come from somewhere.

Neely Kate is alot better then Neely Jean.  What is your first name, its nice that the father wants to honor you by putting your name in the baby's name.  Would your first name work.  I also like Neely Mae-which has a very southern feel. Or you could go with something French for a Louisiana touch.  Neely Renee.

I like Neely Jean.  We are 28 weeks pregnant...we are having our 3rd boy...we have a little girl as well.  If we were going to have a girl her middle name was going to be Jean.

I like the name Kate, but I think that Neely Jean sounds better than Neely Kate.

If youre really concerned about her name being too southern make Neely her middle name. Neely sounds like Ceely from the Color Purple. Kate is a cute first name though.

If you name your baby Neely Jean, I am sorry but some kid will come up to her singing Neely Jean is not my lover..... Kids will and can be very mean...I would go with Neely Kate.

The Billy Jean song is the first thing that came to my mind when I read Neely Jean....sorry!
