Hi everyone. Just a quick question.... Im 34 weeks preg with my first. Hes measuring at 37.5 weeks instead!!! The midwife was shocked. Plus hes breech, been like that since my scans etc, plus i got a cyst on my left ovary which at my last scan at 28w measured at 5cm x 5cm (i think it must ov grown since then). Also i found out after my blood test im a carrier of sickle cell trait (although im white british!!!) Has anything like this happened to anyone?? I think i may have to have a C section. Im just confused.lol. Thank u :) x*x

  1. wouldn't worry about the sickle cell (if your partner is white!) one in like 100,000 white people have this trait compared to 1 in 12 black people. And both of you need to have it and then theres only a 25% chance your baby will have sickle cell anaemia. So wouldn't worry about that.

I had my daughter who was breech at 36 weeks and she weighed 6lbs 9oz big of sayig she was a month early!

I wouldn't worry just yet, the only reason why i had a c-section at 36 weeks was because the cord was wrapped around her neck.

  2. if the baby was breech that last time that you were checked, then you should request another ultrasound before you go into labor. if the baby is breech you can not deliver naturally and will have to have a c-section. as far as the baby being a tad large for his gestational age, that happens, and you can't pin-point the exact second that you conceived so my doctor always said, a week here and a week there. and for the cyst that you developed, i'm not sure. i personally have never run into that before. i would venture to guess that it won't effect the child at all, but after delivery and recovery, should be removed. and the sickle cell trait, i would recommendd talking to your child'spediatriciann about the risks of you passing that on the your little one. I hope that i've been of some help to you. sorry that you're having such a rough pregnancy! it will all be worth it when you see your child for the first time. take care. and good luck!

  3. Hi there,

I am a diabetic and had a few complications, so had to be induced early, but ended up having a c-section.

I just wanted to reassure you that both induction and c-sections are pretty run-of-the-mill these days, so I just wanted to say don't worry. If you have to be induced early, just try to be as relaxed as possible, make sure you have someone to talk to, and that you know as much as you can about what they will need to do for you and baby. The more they know, the better they can deal with it too. My little boy wasn't discovered to be in the wrong position (facing up, not down) until after labour had started, so they had to rush me to emergency. Because they know that your bub is breech, they will factor that into the delivery. I would be reassured rather than alarmed, personally.

Sometimes diabetic people can have larger babies, called 'macrosomic' babies, so I can understand your alarm at the size of your bub. Please don't worry. Have you done your glucose test to make sure you are clear for gestational diabetes? This should allay any fear.

Anyway, here is a site that helped me when I was in my last month.

    www.i-am-pregnant.com

I practically lived there. It is full of women going through the same thing as you, all counting down patiently until the moment their baby is born. It will put your mind at rest if you spend some time in the 'week to week' section checking out all the other comments from other pregnant users. You can ask questions and get professional, expert answers, as well as chatting with other soon-to-be mums and making friends that you can talk to about parenting later on.

Good luck, congratulations, and I hope you and baby are in the best of health on the big day :)

  4. It is normal to measure a little smaller or bigger.  You could just be retaining more fluid there is no indication that it is actually the baby's size.  I certainly wouldn't just schedule a c-section because there are risks that come along with abdominal surgery.  Research your conditions a bit before agreeing to anything.  Good luck.

  5. Measurments are only a guideline but given that you are measuring that much more, you need to request (it should have already happened) another ultrasound to check on the babies growth and so that the doctors can make a decision on when to deliver and how...

I would say you would need a c-section and it is possible if your carrying a large baby the doctor may need to deliver early
