Please can anyone tell me if theatre actresses get paid well?

this is very important & sorry,if im sounding nosey & greedy.but its just that i have to make a career choice.so detailed answers will be cherishes.

  1. if you want to do something on broadway,

    sure.

    you get paid good money.

    pretty much anything like that in New York is good.

    for other things,

    it depends on what you call "getting paid well"

    but you'd have to get a lead role if you want the good money.


  2. The only decently paid people in theatre are the Stage hands,  24k a year is HIGH for actors, so take that into account, also, you aren't ever truly guaranteed work, so atleast be ready for multiple jobs.

Nobody goes into theatre to get rich.  While acting gigs pay relatively well for their duration, 99.9% of actors don't work all the time.  Most actors I know (and I work in professional theatre) have a second, part-time and flexible job (often waitressing) to pay the bills between acting jobs.  It's only when (if) you get to the big time that you make the big bucks.  And I would add that if you're questioning whether you should go into acting because of the money, it's probably not for you, as successful actors do it because they can't imagine doing anything else and still being happy, regardless of the money.
