Please can somebody give me some tips on how to have a good opening on?

Your first paragraph should provide an overview of the topic. For instance, you could say something like:

"British explorers found a gold chalice in the tomb of Egyptian Emperor Tootuttoo, who lived around 600 B.C. Carbon dating of the chalice showed that it was fabricated closer to 1200 B.C...."

Then, you could follow with a couple of paragraphs with a more detailed description of the object and its use and origins. In the case of the chalice, you might note that design details indicate it had was made earlier than 600 B.C. You might speculate as to why the Emperor was buried with an antique chalice. Was it a family heirloom? Was it a symbol of his office as emperor, etc?

Finally, you would end with a paragraph summarizing the first three paragraphs.
