  1. Melissa had good suggestions.

    Might I add one thing?

WASH the injury thoroughly, dry it completely and then apply something like Neosporin.

Don't worry too much, the fact you are going to take the dog into the vet the next day says a lot about you.

Hurray for (you being) a responsible pet owner.

I hope Skooter has a quick, painless and not so expensive recovery.

  2. If the bleeding has stopped then wait until the morning to take him to the vet.  For now just keep it clean! Dab with a clean, wet warm wash cloth. He will be fine, make sure he takes his antibiotics as prescribed so he doesn't get infected.  Good Luck

  3. If he doesn't seem to be in pain and the damage doesn't look like a wound you'd go to the hospital for, I'd say it's safe to avoid the vet.

Put some ointment on it, wrap it up and he'll be fine!

  4. If your dog is eating, drinking and acting normal, than I wouldn't be too concerned. Dogs who are in a lot of pain will act strangely.  Dogs get cuts and scrapes, just like we do and we are just fine :)  It may even be a bite from another animal. I wouldn't rush him to the ER, you'll pay a fortune and it's not a serious wound. You may want to disinfect it with something...even a little Neosporin will do just fine. Just keep him from biting or l*****g it. See the vet tomorrow so they cam properly dress it and check for any infection.  Good luck, he'll be ok, don't worry!

  5. I have I bichon too her name is coco anyway just try to comfert her by rubbing her belly and talking to her make sure she does not bite or do anything to her tail that will make it worse just as a heads up if she is panting heavy  or cant sit still that means she is in pain or discomfert

  6. ooh check to see if there's an animal hospital in your area that's open 24 hours a day..or an emergency number for your vet.
