  1. When you are serious, passionate and want something that bad, nothing stands in your way. You'd walk there if you have to.

As far as cost, Fifure skating is expensive; however, you can start by enrolling in group lessons. And sice it it far, you can try to make it ther at three times a week from the biginning of the session until the end of it. Make the most of it. Enjoy the time you are there.

  2. I had the same problem =] I have wanted to skate since i was 4 but the ice rink was nearly an hour away. I finally started when i was 12. Are you sure there are no others near by?

If you are really serious about starting then you should ask your parents and show them that you are serious and they will most probably encourage you. And if the cost is too much, maybe you could do odd jobs around your neighbourhood to earn money so that you could show your parents your serious and contribute a bit yourself =]

Dont give up if you really want to do it =]

    Hope this helps x

  3. I would first like to say that I am sorry about your problem. But I would also like to say that you should lay off of your parents because they are probbably getting pissed. Sit them down and have a talk with them. Let them know how much you appreciate them and love them. Tell them that they have given you the world and more. Then tell them that you have a dream to be a figure skater. Tell them that you want to do something that means a lot to you. Tell them about your thirst for knowledge in this sport and that you would like to find out what you can do. Then and only then will they take you seriously and help you to achieve what they NOW know is your dream. Good luck and hope you do well.

  4. Well firstly, you should take group skating lessons to take you up a few levels first then you should worry about figure skating, they are cheaper, they range from about £30-£50, but its good because you get around 4 half-an-hour sessions in a whole week, which is good value, secondly, you shouldnt worry about how far it is because its your dream, and how far it is should be the last thing on your mind. But for faster transport take the train if it is a big deal.

    Good Luck!!!

  5. if u r really serious then consider moving to a place close to a cheap and good ice skating arena.

  6. There is really nothing you can do but stick it out, and go an hour away.

My rink is about 50 minutes away and I just added 3 more private lessons onto my week.

Thats 4 private lessons, 1 group lesson, and 1 practice myself.

Thats 600 minutes of traveling a week, or 10 hours.

Thats how much I want to become a good skater. So if you are really comitted to it, stick it out and take a bus/ask a friend/parent. My parents drive me, and we eat at the mall next door and then I ice skate. Just to tell you, if you want to become a proffesional figure skater then be ready to do the following:

-Pay around $5,000-$7,000 a year in lessons, outfits/clothes, ice skates, and other things

-Give up being with friends, hanging out with them, or talking to them on the phone.

-Having lessons at 5:00AM before school.

-Not eating ANYTHING fatty. That means no cheese, chips, candy, popcorn, ANYTHING. You mostly eat salad, meat, and green veggies.

-Giving up a normal life and becoming comitted, even in the summer.

    Anyway, good luck! =]

  7. Speak to your Mum, Dad,sisters, brothers, and other family,

I'm sure they will want to help and encourage you.

  8. if you are serious you will travel, my main practicing rink was a hour away and my mum was dedicated to me and drove me day 5 sometimes 6 days a week when i got older they brought me a car and eventually they rented me a house over there, if anyone is serious about any sport they are all prepared to travel them miles dedication my friend.
