Please can you recommend areas of France to visit?

We are taking our tent, (and 3 kids) to France in August for 3 weeks. We will start with a week in Orleans. After this we would like to visit 2 more areas of France but cannot decide which? We dont really want to travel any further down than Bordeaux. We're after simple but nice campsites in lovely locations. Thanks in advance for any help.

go south, nice, niam and all the cities around that area. southern france is beautiful, so many mountains, so much cheap wine, and nice weather

Normandy is nice.  See Dieppe, honfleurs, Rouen, Omaha beech and Mont St Michel.

Provence would be nice.
