1. I receive such posts from time to time, too. It is just a promotion (think ad) for another Yahoo group, in this case an adult content group.

If you don't want to receive messages to join groups you don't know about, you can edit your email preferences by going to your My Groups page and clicking on My Email Preferences (found on right side of page towards the top). Find the email address that is receiving the unwanted messages, and click on Edit at the far right hand side of that line.

Uncheck the boxes in front of "Allow group moderators to directly add me to their groups." and "Allow group moderators to invite me to their groups". Click on Save Changes (in blue at top left).

You will now no longer receive the invitations.

  2. I also received this request. While it was said that it is a promotion, I personally find it as spam. I have reported it to Yahoo as such and hope that in the future they will prevent groups (if in fact it is one of the Yahoo groups) from having free access to our e-mails and spamming at will. I would recommend that every one who receives this also report it to Yahoo...Perhaps they will stop passing out our email addresses to adult sites...

If this is indeed a Yahoo site, I must say I am disappointed in Yahoo for allowing the members to spam us. What if I was 13 and received this e-mail? My thoughts are that this is not Yahoo, or that Yahoo is not aware of the actions of this group. Report it !!
