Hi Vikram!

Marcelino is right, as to the time, but for the wrong reason.

Right now, when it's 9 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, it's 6:30 a.m. the following morning in India.

Marcelino gratuitously used the abbreviation "EST" however, and that is where he slipped into error.  Nine in the evening "EST," which is the abbreviation for Eastern Standard Time, the time zone we are in between November 2, 2008 and March 8, 2009, equals 7:30 India Standard Time, not 6:30.  He is saved by Davlight Saving Time, in effect right now in the United States but not in India.  Daylight Saving Time ("EDT") makes 9 p.m. Eastern equal 6:30 the next morning India Time.
