I'm scared of confinement, bad food, boredom, and high costs.

Give me all the reasons you can think of.

  1. I'm also scared of confinement, but you won't feel that on a cruise ship.  Those ships are huge.

High cost?  No way, try comparing the cost to a tropical resort, there is no comparison.  Where else can you get room, all you can eat, entertainment and service, for around $100 a day.

We have been on nine cruises in 12 years, we are planning another one next year (2008).  You can meet people from all over the world.  See a variety of ports, each one unique.

You can relax or be as busy as you want to be.

  2. I've found that people either love cruises- or they hate them.  There really is no in-between.

So just jump on in and give it a try.  I can think of no other way I would like to spend my vacations!

  3. Try a 3,4 or 5 day cruise first. like one of the previous answers you will love or hate it. I went on my first cruise in aug. of 05 again in july of 07 and have booked one for june of 08.

Its the best way to travel

  4. High costs?  Cruising is one of the cheapest ways to travel, and yet still see several sites.  I paid $650 for my stateroom and all the food I could eat for 7 days.  Price that out at a decent hotel in LA or Bahamas.

I had very little down time on my cruise, and I was thinking i'd have plenty of time to lounge around by the pool.  Only did that one day for about 30 minutes.

Didn't have one bad meal on Holland America.  The food was very good, and not what I would make for myself every night.

Met some great people on board, and probably will cruise with some of them again in November.  I've heard that from lots of people - they meet great folks on board and end up travelling with them in the future.

  5. I too was scared of all the same things. I like to go and move constantly, am a picky eater and didnt think I could afford it. WOW, how wrong was I.

I went on my first cruise May 2006, I have since been on 5 others with a 7th planned in 75 days. I love it!!!! Yes I do admit the rooms are small but I found that by getting a window or balcony , you can avoid that claustrophobic feeling.

I dont eat cheese, dairy or anything I cant recognize. The best thing on a crusie is during the day there are so many choices on deck that even picky *** me can find food. I would have a wonderful breakfast of frusit and sit by the rail and read in the early morning, have lunch by the pool and dress for dinner and try wonderfully exotic things for dinner. And guess what, if I didnt like them, they would bring me something else. My 12 year old discovered she likes cavier but not cold asparagus soup (lol).

With a family of 5 , we would take the kids to Disney WOrld every year for a week. Amazing as is sounds, it cost us almost $1000 less for that same week on a ship. It helps that all the food is included, with 2 teenage boys the food consumption is astoundiung.

I think one of my favorite things is the fact I get to go to 3-4 vacation spots, allowing me to see islands and places I may nit want to spend a week at. And I only have to unpack once.

You will find many opinions on cruises and crusielines.Try one, even the short hops to the Bahamas are great ( I've been on 3).They are short enough to try them out and long enough if you hate the experience not to jump ship

  6. i feel cruises are worth every penny. my first cruise was when i was 21. i went with my brother and 3 other guys. that was the BEST one of the 4 cruises i was on....even better than my honeymoon cruise. there were 17 of us on the last cruise (Nov '05). that was also a blast! it was like trying to herd cats, though, in trying to get everyone to get ready for dinner or to the same club after dinner or on the same shore excursions. Feb '08 is my next cruise. there is going to be 8 of us, a more manageable number.

as others have mentioned, the food is outrageous. i've been introduced to foods i've never eaten before and loved them.

you also get to meet people from all around the world that are anywhere from first time cruisers to this one elderly lady that was on her 80th cruise!!!

you won't feel confined at all. the staterooms are a little smaller than a hotel room (try and stay away from an inside stateroom since there are no windows) but how much time will you actually be spending in the room??

    you'll visit several different countries.

there is plenty to do on board while the ship is sailing: there are casinos, boutiques, the pool(s), as many as 17 bars, entertainment in the theaters, etc.

just as stated in the old LIFE cereal commercial...."Try it. You'll like it!"

  7. the feeling is AWESOME

    you can show off lol

its romantic if you go with your lover

    its a beautiful view

the food may not be that bad

take a cuise to teh carribean =)

JUST THINK OF IT AS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPERTUNITY!

  8. If you don't go then I will and if I go the following will happen:

I will get the Captain suite

I will buy the whole ship drinks

I will thrown gold pieces in the pool making people drive in for them while fully dressed

I will insist that we blow up the ice carvings

and last I will laugh at everyone who get sea sick.

Now you don't want all that to happen so go and have fun

  9. AWESOME FREE FOOD- the food is amazing- it feels like you're at a high class, expensive restaurant every night! if you dont like that, you can get buffet style food almost any time you want!! There is always something to do- they have hundreds of planned activities, pool side games, drinking, casino, professional shows, etc. I went on a cruise for $500 to florida keys, carribean, and mexico. it was great!! a lot of sun, relaxation, a massage and facial. if you go with a boyfriend/husband, it's romantic, with a family, fun and exciting, with friends- can be scandalous!

  10. OMG!  I went on a cruise for the first time in August.  I loved it.  What cruise are you taking?  I went on Carnival.  This cruise line is one that is directed toward always keeping you occupied.  No being bored on this ship.  There are so many activities to do.

The food is wonderful.  There is so much to choose from, so you never have to worry about having to eat something you don't want to.

I went on this cruise for approx. $350.00 w/tax and all.  That is CHEAP.  They have specials all the time.

Good luck on your decision.  But seriously, it is worth going.  I plan to go once every year!
