  1. What type of Manager? Office, Hotel, Movie Theater, Business? It depends.  You can live quite well off a salary in the low-mid 20's.  Certain items are much higher in cost but when you receive a salary of 25K, you get 25K.  They do not pay tax on salary.  So My friends there make 50%-60% less than I am in NY, but they live much better...

  2. you have to get a work permit that takes weeks and is a pain to get. it also cost 7500 dollars to get one. this country is REAL strict about it. i know b/c i just spent a year getting everything together to be a legal worker here and the ppl who handle your case arent real easy to get any help from... my company had to hire a consultant! (btw- im an amerian  manager in the bahamas).

  3. Every job in the Bahamas is unionized and believe me the waitress was not working for tips she was getting paid.  The problem you will find is since The Bahamas is a foreign country you will have to have a work permit which are very expensive and extremely difficult to get.

  4. well i just got bk from there a few days ago, and in asking alot of questions while there, they did tell me that the minimum wage a wk there is $178.00 a wk!!!! the economy there is shot and i dont think you want to give up OUR economy for theirs. Unless you can braid hair, drive a taxi, or hustle tourist, then its useless to try anything else

Salaries in the neighbouring TCI are low by European standards, but a surprising number of Bahamians go there to work, which seems to indicate that Bahamian salaries are not to generous.

Needless to say, you must measure any salary against the cost of living. If you are an expat, you must also bear in mind that you have to occupy accommodation in which you can feel safe -- and safety often comes at a premium!
