I don't know if I believe in God anymore. I want to and I still pray to Him, but part of me thinks I'm just following what is expected of me. I want to believe there is a Higher Power but when I see so many different cultures each one believing in something different, who am I to say that MY God is real and right? Why isn't theirs? I'm so confused. Can anyone give me a path to take? Not necessarily a religious one but definitaly not a devilish negative one. I looked into Scientology but didn't feel comfortable with that. I want to believe in something bigger than me but just don't know where to look.

  1. Just have faith that God is there, there is more evidence that God is there than any other god, you just have to believe, I have full belief in God and my faith has never been tested, read the bible you might find inspiration there, but if you still have trouble believing go with whatever you feel strongly about, just as long as you believe in a higher being and pray to them all should be ok having faith in something good and pure is really all that matters, don't worry lots of people have their doubts, good luck

  2. My advice is that if you really believe that there is a God, believe it. You don't have to be overwhelmed by the different religion that is in this world. You also don't have to proclaim/say that the God you believe in is the right one. What matters most - always - is your faith. You don't need to categorize yourself. :) Good luck! Having this kind of feeling is normal, so don't worry!

Just follow what is in your heart.

  3. There's a scripture in John "if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask in faith" ...which is exactly what a teenage boy did when he had your same dilemma.  He didn't know which, if any, of the churches he were right or true.  So he asked, in prayer, and he was given the answer that none of them were true.

You may not like my answer, but that boy was Joseph Smith.  You can gain a testimony too, if you pray in faith.  Pray with real questions..."are you really there"  "is this church true?"  "is any church true?"  "should I read the Bible?"  "is it truly an inspired book?"  "how should I live my life?"

anyway, pray, with faith, and I believe you will get answers.

And, even if you don't feel like going to church, still begin each day with a prayer that your paths will be safe and you won't be decieved by others.

  4. Why would you come on yahoo answers for this? Half of us are either ethnocentric Atheists or ethnocentric Christians.

Speak to someone offline. That is my advice.

  5. hi kare this is a defficult one to answer.

im a muslim that is so open to all other religins but im not asking u to follow islam or any other religin , i will give u a small tip to follow just keep searching for ur god and be sure that ur god cant be something that u can see or touch cause if u can touch it so someone els had made it and god cant be made so then u will see that u know that he is there for u keep praying even if u dont feel anything and most important keep asking him to keep the devil away cause whenever u have the feeling that a part of u dosen't believe so its the devil pushing u to keep u away of worshiping ur god and ask for his help ,

just keep looking and im sure that GOD will show u the right way to follow

  6. typically we let our belief systems define us. right now yours is up for debate so your "confused" you see. when your beliefs are undefined and you want them to be then you are confused or searching..

In all the great studies of mankind I think we always come to a point where the information is so overwhelming that we are forced to realize there is a god. All of the natural world around us screams that there is a god.

I guess your a young person and what your going through is pretty normal. You should study the way your parents have lead you and understand it well. And from that vantage point you can look at the other faiths or belief systems around you and have a base of understanding.

    God Bless you

  7. If you believe in a god, then make your peace with him.

You don't need to 'belong' to an organized religion to

be a decent, righteous person. I'm sure you know what's

right and wrong- you don't need a political or theologic

    hypocrit to preach at you.

Just live your life as if you expect to be answerable for your

    actions when the judgement comes.
