Ok~my best friend is addicted to Vicoden BAD...she is 25 and she has her own place and stuff so her mom cant help her because they dont get along. But she takes anywhere from 10 to 20 (1000mg) pills a DAY! I think they are the 10/650's idk...the really strong ones. And if she runs out then she gets REALLY sick for like 7 days. She calls me begging for me to go to the hospital to fake something to get her some. She gets 360 pills a month or more! And she wont go to rehab because she is afraid of the withdrawls...what do I do? She is my best friend and I dont want her to die. Could this kill her? And at the rate that she is going....how long could it take for the pills to kill her? She has been doing this steadily for 5 years now!!!!

  1. She is destroying herself and has a serious addiction. Yes, if she goes to rehab she will go through withdrawals. She already goes through them when she runs out of pills. I know think you are helping her but you are enabling her basically to kill herself. Do not fake illnesses to get her more drugs! Get her into rehab before it's too late. If anything happens to her and you didn't try you will in some way blame yourself. If you at least try, you will know you did the best you could for her. Really it's up to her. She has to want to help herself.

  2. Yes, this could kill her.  And it could escalate into another addiction.

She won't stop until she has a d**n good reason to stop.  Until she loses everything she cares about, she won't have any reason to stop.  You need to stop talking to her.  Tell her she has one chance and one chance only to check herself into rehab; if she refuses, you are done associating with her and will never speak to her again.  Be prepared for her to tell you to F off, and be prepared to walk away and never talk to her again.

This is the only way to deal with addicts.

  3. your friend really needs to be in rehab. they understand about withdrawals and will know what to do to help her through this. Yes she could die from this addiction if not treated.

  4. First off, I think ur a really good friend to do this for her. Now, when she calls you to go to the hospital to fake an injury or ailment, you should tell her that you love her but you can't contribute to her hurting herself. As her best friend you should feel comfortable enough to sit and talk to her and help her get to the root of her addiction, but don't be critical of her reasons also, try to find her professional help because her drug use is very dangerous and it could kill her. Try to spend as much time with her as you possibly can just so she knows you are in her corner and to have her back to the fullest!!! I hope I've helped you a little, good luck.
