Please explain how vor works, i am having a hard time with applying it?

i'm reading how it works but i can't seem to grasp it. please explain how it works and please try to be basic. thank you so much.

just picture a large wheel.. with 360 spokes.. you can use the spokes to go to the station .. which is the hub of the wheel.. also you can use the spokes to go away from the station the hub... example i am in space.. but i know the frequency of the vor.. i tune in that frequency and i get a needle indication.. i identyfy the station with the identifier. lets say its voice.. a voice says anytown for.. next i need to go to the station.. so i tune the needle on my vor.. util it centers.. lets sty 40 degrees.. now i will turn the aircraft to 040 degrees on the compas.. and the needle will either be to the left or right of the center.. if it is to the right of center.. i will apply a correction.. this means i have to turn to the left to intercept that radial.. wich if first refered to as a spoke.. so i will apply 10degrees.. is willturn to 030 and watch the needle and as it starts to come tyoward the center iwill alter the correction angle.. go to 035 degrees. in time i will go to 040 and observe which way the needle goes.. that final course will be the wind correction angel to keep me on that radial.. i find that 044 degrees keeps me on the 040 radial.. that is a wind correction angle.. and when nearing the station i will see a blowling pin.. that is the hub as i cross over this the vor needle display will go from to to off and as i pass the display will indicate from.. ok
