  1. you might want to try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light

  2. Inshan...

    Your definition of reflection and refraction is identical!!!!..  Please check again...

    In simple terms..

    REFLECTION

    ... when light gets to a boundary between 2 media, eg. from air to a brick wall,... and that light bounces back into the the first medium (air).

    When ever there is reflection,

    i = r

    i = the angle of incidence (the angle the light beam makes with the NORMAL to the surface of the boundary),

    r = angle of reflection...(angle of the reflected beam makes with the NORMAL)

    REFRACTION

    ... when light gets to a boundary between 2 media...  say from air to glass, (from less dense to more dense), the light (bulk) of the light will pass through into the next medium.

    n1sin(i) = n2sin(r)

    n1 = refractive index of the media where the incidence beam is starting from.

    i = incidence angle

    n2 = refractive index of the media where the refractive beam ends up in.

    r = refracted angle (angle the refractive beam makes with the normal)

    Hope this kick starts you...

  3. its a good question, but people explain unnecessarily............

    REMMEBER ONLY THIS MUCH>

    "light is a visible spectrum of electromagnatic wave"

    "again if u use instruments to make other freq.'s of EM-wave then thats also light...

    although standard spectrum(freq.rang) of EM-wave is light.

    "reflection is also dependent on property of material and freq of light

    thats what I emphasiz for u..."

    although I prefer go through HALLIDAY,RESNICK for defination or any standard book...if u get confusion ask...

    refraction is also dependent on maily 2 factors same as above...

    remm. in mind the to factor...

    both reflection/refraction: r divergence of EM-wave from normal(to certain angle)

    I ask u to concerntrate on my question : that what 'll happen if angle of refration is more then 90degree(or around),n goes away form normal??

  4. I'm just going to say it in few words.

    Relfection is just the bending of light as it passes from one medium into another medium.

    Refraction is the bending of light as it passes from one (rarer) medium into another (denser) medium and again back to its previous medium.

    (The bracket ones are just for example. It doesn't happen from rarer--denser--Rarer all the time)

    Trust me, light is simply remarkable. It's got lots of things in it -- From general theory of materials of physics into modern theory of relativity of physics. This only thingie deals all about physics. Try exploring this incredibly thrilling "material" of physics by yourself. You'll love it!
