Please explain the process needed to start a small business in california.?

I already files a fbn. What goes next? the Business tax licence or the sellers permit?

Please be detailed here and DO NOT point us to websites. We have been to enough websites. please answer the question here without including links to other sites for information.

Do you have a business plan?  If you don't know what your costs (fixed and variable) are going to be, how do you know if you can even afford to start your business.  Have you talked to an attorney or an accountant or bookkeeper?  You'll need them too...

Do you have a location for your business?  Is the site properly ZONED for your business?  You can't even open the door if the zoning won't allow your business, and if you do, the zoning administrator WILL shut you down.

You can't get a business license or resale permit until you know where you're going to be located.  The business license is obtained from the city or county where you're located. Not all counties require a business license, all cities that I'm familiar with do require a business license.  If you're in the city, you don't have to get a county business license.

The resale permit is obtained from the State Board of Equalization.  Since you said don't post any links, I won't... just google it.  

Are you going to be selling or preparing food?  If so, you'll need a health department inspection of the premises and a permit from the health department to operate.  

Are you going to be working with any hazardous or potentially hazardous materials... contact EPA, OSHA, the local health department, etc...  

You probably cannot work out of your home, so you'll need to refile your FBN statement when you get a commercial or business address for your business if you filed with your home address...
