Please explain the science of muscle and fat before I just GIVE UP?

I recently started training after learning I had 40 percent body fat.

Its now two weeks on, and after losing 2 pounds, I have gained 1 pound and have some muscle on my arms.

I now want to give up.

I don want to gain weight..and Im scared the muscle on top of the fat will make me bulky and fat looking. I dont want to look like a body builder,

Im scared i will gain muscle but put on weight and I will forever be overweight.

Please advise me..I simply want to give up.

  1. Muscle wieghs more than fat but it gives you a more slender look than fat. Fat is chunky. Unless you do intense work-outs your not going to look like a body builder. Do light work-outs and do a lot of cardio.

    Cardio will get rid of fat and light work-outs will help shape your body without making you look like a body builder. Also don't skimp out on nutrition just to lose weight.

    Just because someone is heavy doesn't mean they are fat. A 100 pound person could look like a fat slob while a 160 pound person could look like a s**y beast.

    i would prefer to have muscle instead of fat

    i would prefer to look like a body builder than to look as a fat unhealthy person

    also 2 weeks is not enough time to lose weight and tone up

    also you will not get bulky, because all those body builders look like that after training for years with heavy weight, it's not easy to look like a body builder also you probably notice the muscle because in your arms because THE FAT went away, also muscle weights more than fat,

    i would recommend reading a little bit more about losing weight and gaining muscle because you   know nothing about this matters

    Don't give up, your scare just because you lose 2 pounds and then gained 1, that's stupid, i would be scare if i lost 80 pounds and gained 40.

  3. What you need to do is burn as much fat as possible before you start lifting weights.  Muscle weighs almost twice more than fat and you will most likely gain weight if you keep on doing it the way you  are.  

    Listen, you must diet.  When I mean diet, I mean eat more meals with fewer calories in a day.  Read food labels and eat foods with the least amount of carbohydrates as possible.  What this does is speed up your metabolism and use the stored fat on your body for energy, which you allow you to achieve a slimmer and toned figure.

  4. People are far too concerned with weight these days, as opposed to what they should be concerned with, fat levels.  Muscle is not unhealthy, having too much fat is.

    Don't worry about your weight, if your bodyfat percentage is decreasing, you are doing a good job.  Increasing the amount of muscle you have will also help you achieve a nice, toned look.

    To achieve fat-loss, make sure you have a healthy, low-calorie diet.  It should have approximately 30% low GI carbohydrates, 30% healthy fats, and 40% protein.  The source of your calories are just as important as the calories themselves.

    Also, make sure you drink plenty of water and have 3 meals a day with 2-3 snacks, to speed up metabolism.  Add in some cardio exercise as well, I recommend HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training).

    HIIT is great because it is the only cardio that completely sustains muscle mass, while burning fat 9 times more effectively than any other cardio.  Find out all about it here:
