Please explain this to me... it makes no sence?

I'll be 16 next month. Got my period when I was 14, but I only get it once a year. Yeah me, I know! But then the doctor tells me when I'm 16 that I might have to go on birth control if it doesn't regulate itself. Why would I want to go on the pill and be miserable each month if I could be happy all year? Is there anything bad that will happen if I don't regulate? What if I want to have kids later in life... won't the birth control s***w the kid up? Would you go on the pill?

  1. go back to your gynecologist and ask him/her the same questions u r asking here. If there is no danger in not taking the pill then I wouldn't take them

  2. what kid? your too young to have kids so why would you care if it "screwed ur kid up" when you want kid you get off the pill, as simple as that

  3. Birth control won't s***w up anything with future pregnancies. He may want you to go on the pill, because unfortunately if your hormone levels aren't regulated- it could increase your risks for other problems like certain cancers or cysts.

Sometimes after taking the pill for a year or so, your period will normalize somewhat on its own after you stop taking it.

There are many pill types available now- some of them you only have 4 periods a year -- not too miserable to deal with.

  4. Your doctor is the best person who ask these questions to. There are actually hormonal conditions I have heard of where getting on birth control temporarily sort of "jump starts" the girl's natural cycle and keeps her fertility in tact, where as if she would have been untreated she wouldn't have been able to have kids later.

Birth control rarely sterilizes people later in life and it doesn't "s***w the kid up" if you are trying to get pregnant long after you have stopped the pill.

Like I said, ask you doctor why you need to be regulated. There might be a very good reason behind it. And you have the right to know.
