  1. try portland maine...i've meet alot of people here from vermont...it has the same new england feel as VT (sort of) but not nearly as isloated and secluded as parts of VT--actually pretty lively for a small coastal city

  2. You might try Texas.  Texas seems to be all the rage these days.  Big state, lots of diversity in terms of landscape, weather and people.  It's very low cost of living compared to most decent places in the U.S.  The economy is better than most places right now.

  3. Black & white cows?  The changing of the leaves in the Fall? Don't forget covered bridges!

Sometimes one just needs to move on.

If you are looking for somewhere > very < different from VT consider New Orleans. The city is still recovering from Katrina and there are labor shortages in the medical, legal, retail, and service fields, plus most trades.

Do line up a job first, wherever you go.

    Good luck!

  4. Well, California is not cheap but I think the West Coast pays pretty well.  I don't know what you do for a living.  If you want men, I live in San Diego--a Navy/Marine/med research city, so men are not a problem--they're everywhere!  (And they're employed, and you don't have to support them!)  If you date a guy in the Navy, he'll go play Sea Hunt every few months and then you can miss him.   And if you want a Calvin Klein mens briefs ad to come to life, then go see the Marines at Camp Pendleton--yum!

Do you find that the places that are less expensive to live may not have the sophistication or political outlook that you want?  You could move to Texas but wind up feeling like you're living on Mars, if you can't get used to the different mindset.  Just a thought. . .

I also find that a community that has a law school and a med school is generally better educated overall, if that matters to you.

Come vacation here and see what you think!

  5. Alaska is pretty cool too ... no shortage of men there and they have good income  :)
