I am 17 years old and excited because Im going to college this year as a freshmen. My lifelong dream is to become an actor. I wanted to act since I was a kid. Its my life goal and my passion. I truly love it and will stop at nothing to make my dream become reality.

In college, I will take drama classes and I will join the school theatre and participate in all the plays. I will participate in all the student film projects that I can so I can build my resume and be able to have many clips for my reels that I will send to agents. I am constantly readind and studying techniques and strategies and everything u must do to make it in the entertainment industry. I have read tips, strategies and everything. I have ALOT of knowledge of the acting business already and I plan to learn more so that I would be ready. I am always seeking advice and new knowledge. Most people just want the fame and fortune and think itll just be handed to them. But not me, I know that itll take experience and hard work and I am so happy I am still in my youth because I have tons and tons of time to build my resume so that I can be a successful Hollywood actor atleast by the age of 25. My major will be communications though incase my acting career does'nt work out. But THAT ISNT AN OPTION!!! I have too much drive and determination for me not to make it.

So I want to ask the Yahoo community for advice on my acting career. Please give me tips for auditions, and ways to impress casting directors. Please give me advice on what to watch out for and what will bring me success. God bless all of you.

  1. To be honest, it's unlikely you'll learn anything from Yahoo Answers that you won't learn in college, assuming your professors know what they're talking about, but I'll give a bit of advice:

Don't move to an over-saturated market like Hollywood right out of college. You'll do much better starting out by choosing another city that has a respectable arts community, like Chicago, Seattle, Houston, Miami, or Toronto. A talented and well-trained performer will have a much easier time finding work in these cities, and then once your resume is looking impressive enough and you've built some sort of a name for yourself, you can look into relocating to someplace like Hollywood. Remember, crowds of wannabe starlets arrive in Hollywood to "make it" every day, and many of them are just as talented and hard-working as you are. The best way to make yourself stand out from these other girls is to show up with a resume that shows how bankable you are.
