Door chimes have an electromagnet energized when you press the door button switch. That electromagnet has a rod inside that is popped up by the magnetic field so that it hits a gong plate and makes the chime sound. Then it drops all the way down and hits a second plate. That gives you the ding and the dong sounds.

If you pass a current though a conductor you get a magnetic field.

Examples

Electromagnet that they use at scrapyard

A relay in your car.

An AC or DC motor.

An electromagnetic motor brake - when you power it up it releases the motor rotor.

A coil in a pneumatic or hydraulic valve.

The magnetic field around your house wiring.

simple..!

u seen a DC motor... a coil placed between two permanent magnets... when DC current passes through the coil... the coil experiences a force directly proportional to the amount of current (I) flowing in the coil and the flux linkage....

all these motors, generators are good examples of electromagnetism...
