  1. As a native of the desert, I hear a lot of people have the climate of the desert all wrong. Here in Vietnam, geography teachers teach, "It's hot in the day and cold at night." It sounds nice, but it's definitely not true. Maybe one day when there is a frontal change, it'll happen. But not all the time.

Deserts are hot in the summer, mild in fall and spring, and cold in winter, at least in California terms. There are places in the Mojave Desert that do get some snow once or twice a winter.

Hot in the day and cold at night: In the summer, the temperature can swelter as hot as 125 degrees F (52 degrees C). Now, it does get cooler at night. The difference in temperature is amazing. It can dip down into the seventies (Fahrenheit), which is definitely not cold. But it is a fifty degree difference, which, if you don't believe it can get as hot as it does, seems like that kind of difference would produce cold weather. But it's not cold. It's just nice.

Check the website below... It gives the weather for 29 Palms, California. You can play with dates and prove this whole thing I'm telling you all is correct!

  2. Peeing on sea urchin punctures does not heal them; I just learned that the hard way this past weekend in Puerto Rico!

  3. Watch the television programme QI, it's absolutely full of common misconceptions!

One is that your hair continues to grow after you die, it doesn't. Your skin just shrinks.

  4. Only 2 people actually singed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th.   French Fries originated in Belgium. We do not only use 10% of our brains. Blood that has not hit oxygen is not blue it is dark red. Humans did not evolve from any kind of modern ape. Mount Everest is the highest point above sea level but is not the tallest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain from land, and Mauna Kea is the tallest mountain from sea. The world's largest desert is Antarctica not the Sahara. Nowhere in the Bible is the fruit eaten by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden referred to as an apple.
