Please give me tips on how to teach the alphabet & phonetics to children who don't understand english?

How to make it interesting...any word games?please state them in detail.That'd be a great help.Thanks

Create some posters with pictures for words beinging with each letter of the alphabet....some will be tricky you need to be clear whether you are working on the letter or the sound the letter makes....

Make a chart with the alphabet on it and roll a dice and where they land they say the letter and make the sound - or say the letter and give an example d dog

Get a scrabble set of letters and place in a pillow slip or little bag and have them choose a letter out and say the letter - say the letter and give an example- can also be used to make and sound out words

I had good success with the LiPS program from Lindamood-Bell.  You need some training, but basically it focuses on how you physically form and generate each sound.  The letters come after the kids learn how to discriminate between the sounds.  I had a fifth grader with a first grade reading level who progressed by more than two grade levels in less than a year of training.
