(I'm still going to aim for better though)

I know making UCLA also involves the application and personal statements but based on what i have on the above what are my chances?

Oh by the way I'm african american, I'm only saying this because people keep saying that being black would raise my chances? but didn't they do away with prop 209 a while ago? anyway i would like to hear the opinions of my chances of getting in and possibly the last minute things i can do to raise my chances. thanks

  1. You didn't have to take any English in high school? That's strange.

  2. If you ask me, you can get into just about anywhere!  GOOD FOR YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK:)

You deserve a real pat on the back but since I can't do that, how about five stars:)    *****

  3. Your GPA is ok, not amazing. Remember that it only matter for sophomore and junior year though so you may want to recalculate it. Its about average for UCLA. Your SAT could be a bit higher but, again, its about average for UCLA, on the lower side of average. Id take it again, why not?

Your Extras are amazing though. If you could talk about all of them in your personal statement, you'd have a good shot of getting in. Make sure that you talk about them, not all of them though, you don't have the space. Talk about your sport, your community service, and your leadership and how your clubs influenced all of them.

And yes, being black might help. Though it is illegal to have racial quotas, race may "factor into the decision making process". Schools can say they are more diverse and they look better.

Bottom line, with a good personal statement, id say a good chance

  4. Your AP classes and extracurriculars are amazing!! Based on those, I'm sure you will get in. Just keep your grades up through the rest of your senior year, because they still count! Just do well on your essays and make sure they tell a lot about you. SAT's and GPA don't mean everything... but yah, try again on your SATs. You're gpa is awesome, just make sure unweighted is still high up there, unless that is your unweighted gpa. Then you're well on your way :)

    Good Luck with your essays
