  1. Son A, Here's my opinion. You said don't tell you to stay in school and your councilor said she will help you get your GED. Since this is already settled and your councilor is involved, I won't tell you to stay in school. I will tell you there is life after high school and there is time for decisions to be made as your life continues. When I look back I still 'think' about missing those high school years, however I have other experiences to replace them. If your decision turns out not to be the right decision you can still turn around and make other decisions at 18, 19, 20, etc. It sounds as if you are struggling with your decision however it also seems that you have others involved in making decisions that will work.

I left school at 16, went to a technical school, then at 17 joined the Navy. Some of my high school friends graduated and had productive lives. Others were drafted into the army where they fought & some died in Viet Nam. You never know how life is going to turn out.

At 21 I went back to an adult education school and earned my GED. I had to go back to adult ed. because I still needed a couple of courses (in Calif.) to meet the requirements of my GED and to get ready for (at first Junior) College. A GED is not a high school diploma, however a high school diploma with bad grades won't get you into college either. Since I had missed some basics it was more of a struggle for me then some. I ended up with an MA in Psychology and went on to become a VP of a semi-large retail chain of stores. I won't bore you with more of my story, I just wanted you to know that you can do anything you set your mind on -- Good luck.
