  1. 1. Drive slowly.

    2. Learn to "coast" while driving.

    3. Get more air into your engine's air/gas mixture (preferably through cold air intakes), but changing your air filter is good.

    4. Change your O2 Sensors to make sure air/gas mixture is ideal.

    5. Change spark plugs to get maximum spark, which will produce maximum burn of air/fuel mixture.

  2. I don't drive at all sold the car

If you have to drive to work then do shopping on way home and don't drive anywhere else.

  3. take a bus, ride a bike

  4. Try not to use the air conditioner. Make sure your tires have enough air at all times. Don't carry any more weight than you have to(empty your trunk out). Change your air filter every third time you change your oil. Keep the oil changed. Keep good spark plugs and wires. Travel interstate and long stretches more if you can to reduce starts and stops. Drive conservatively by accelerating slower and maintaining a more constant speed once you've tapered off at your ideal limit, avoid speeding up and slowing down, if you have a cruise-control use it often.

I feel the pain, too. Good Luck and I hope this helps you out.

  5. 1)  Inflate tires to manufacturers specs.

    2)  Buy tires with "Smoother" patterns for less rolling resistance.  Even better, buy summer tires for the summer and winter tires for the winter.  The treads are different for each and are more efficient than radial tires.

    3)  Empty the junk from your car.

    4)  Plan your travels for the day for the shortest distance.  String stops so that there is less backtracking.  Start with the location that is furthest away.  An engine is more efficient once it has achieved operating temperature.

    5)  Travel the speed limit.  You burn more gas the faster you travel as your engine needs to overcome the effects of increasing wind resistance and drag.

    6)  Below 40mph, open your windows.  Above 40mph, close windows and turn on Air-conditioner.  The aerodynamic loss to your car will use more gas than running the air-conditioner.

  6. use public transport
