  1. See,

Textile technolgy. a technolgy of getting fabric from Raw cotton ,which incudes ..,,SPINNING of yarn from RAW COTTON ( a compllex and very lond method)...then interlacing of the yarns   into a fabric form ,what u do at loom called as weaving.

and then finaly dyeing of fabric but that is a area of textile chemistry student.

there are many pros and cons,,,,,for being an engineer Of Textile technology.lets start it with all +ves and then -ves and then let us find a best scenario

    +ves

U will end up eligible only for  the jobs  in the manufacturing sector, u will  not be eligible for any service sector.

There are many good companies near the vicinity of Mumbai where u will get good jobs in Knitting , Weaving(as u have mentioned looms) and spinning.

Big inidan firms like Raymonds realince , arvind mills ,Madura garments, Voltas, etc. are there to recruit students from allover the india.

As there are only few good textile colleges in india ,especially  in south so u people have greater chance of getting placed.

    -ves,

In in the industry now a days textile engineering is not considered as engineering because u r not going to revoultion any thing in industry, As there is no Importance to RND Is there in this industry.U will realise this ones u will find person of many other backgrounds are working with u at same postions as u are.

Since it is a manufacturing industry, so the salries are not handsome, and also this industry is not on boom so there are no good  growth  confirmed.

--------------------------------------... u have good mechanical bend then u should look for /aim for Voltas only , because Voltas  has a profile to offer u that suits ur mind set also ur  engineering stream.Voltas gives salries that are very good and much better that other firm,,One more Group ABHISHEK INDUSTRIES/TRIDENT also offers very handsme salary best in whole textile industries for the frshers.

But the jobs in garment house or export houses does not have any thing much to do with u being from textile technolgy , there more diaspora of NIFT people who had studied garment technolgy. But u also have chances in these kind of Jobs but u need to start with small export houses from very low level and the work that is involved in these kind of jobs  has more to do with interpersonnal skills than ur technical skills .and then u can gradualy shift to good export houses and buying houses.

and after u happen to have experiance of export houses , then u become eligible for most of the foreighn companies like Epic desghners and many more.

So in the end i would say there is nothing like that u will end up in working with looms only , but there are many more feilds to choose from but for that i advise u to be more specific and clear what actualy ur innerself expects from YOUR ENGINEERING.
