Last night I got pulled over and then arrested for DUI. Upon release I was not given any copies of the legal documents (not even the one stating how much promille I blew).

All I got is 8 tickets and a court date in 2 days!

Now my question is what could happen to me and if there's any way to get out of at least some tickets?

Details:

First time offence (never been pulled over before), blew .17 promille, was cooperative and respectful.

Now the list of tickets (if possible please state how much is a fine for each one):

1. DUI

2. Obstracted view (air freshener)

3. Under 21 operate after consunption

4. Careless driving

5. Reckless driving

6. Failure to observe signal

7. Unsafe lane change

8. Improper turn at intersection.

Please give me as much details as possible, your help will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

  1. Wow.. This sounds like small town c**p to me.. Cop must have gotten in a fude with his 'ol lady before his shift. When a person gets popped the cops lay several other violations on ya so if there is plea bargain in this case about 1/2 will be dropped if ya plea guilty to the rest.

Like 4-5-6-7-8 are all things written on probably one violation.

When you go in two days. That is arraignment. Plea NOT guilty to all charges. Then you will have some time to sort this out.

You were unlucky.. This cop tried to fill his quota in one stop.

Ask the court for a public defender if you can't afford one.

  2. Two options, both requiring attendance at an alcohol/drug program, a fine of $390 to $1,000,* plus either: (A) 48 hours to six months in jail; or (B) A Six month driver's license suspension by the DMV.. Under option (A) the Court may also suspend your license for 6 months. Under either option , the Court will suspend your license for 6 months if the offense occurred in a vehicle which requires a class A or B license. And this is just for DUI.

  3.                    if its your firs dui its not the end of the world.new york and california have stiff penalties though.i would not worry about the tickets too much they a minor stuff.you will probably loose your license for 3 months have to pay a fine less then a grand and do some dui classes.good luck man i know it sucks

  4. Not sure what is "Promille."  That being said, you are looking at a first time DUI.  Tickets 4 to 8 are simply indicia of driving under the influence or bad driving.  A DUI while underage is more serious and will have greater consequences relating to suspending your driving privileges, usually until you are 21.

For a first time DUI, you will be required to take an alcohol class, pay a large fine, be placed on probation, driving privileges suspended and may face some custody time, depending on your State.  Your insurance will increase dramatically.

The key is to never get another because it is a priorable offense...meaning the consequences get much more serious with each DUI.

Finally, if you drive at all and your drivers license was suspended due to a DUI, you are looking at mandatory jail time.

  5. "All I got is 8 tickets..."

Wait, you said you weren't given any legal documents. So it looks like you're not thinking very clearly now. How do you expect us to take seriously your report that you were cooperativeand respectful? If you blew .17, it's unlikely that you remember everything.

Fines for the various offenses vary greatly from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, so it's not possible to tell you how much. Based on what I've seen, yes, you might well be able to get some of the lesser charges dropped (2, maybe 7 or 8) if you go to court and act appropriately contrite (don't by the way, try to sell the judge on how well behaved you were last night, it ain't gonna fly) but figure of keeping paying in oh so many ways for 1, 3, and 5.

  6. sorry for being rather blatant, but suck it up and be a man. you should think next time before you go risking the safety of others and yourself. my grandmother has been in the hospital for 3 years due to a drunk drivers recklessness , she will unfortunately be there for  the rest of her life. if this ticket does anything, i hope it teaches you a huge lesson. now you have this on your record for life, and a DUI isnt something you can get rid of easily, employers can see it, schools, etc. its not the end i know, luckily this time u were caught and hopefully you learned a great lesson.. good luck man, and i hope you mature up a bit.
