Please help, I am very worried about my guinea pigs health :(?

Question

I am very worried because I know that some animals can die without a salt l**k :o

Does a guinea pig need a salt and/or mineral wheel/ball/l**k?????????????? ???????????

I know they sell ones that are specially made for guinea pigs at my local pet store, but we aren't rich or wealthy or anything so I don't want to buy anything unencesarie.

So do guinea pigs need or like mineral and/or salt l**k/wheels????????????

Actually, no animals need salt or mineral wheels/licks. If your piggie is getting a proper pelleted diet put out for guinea pigs, timothy hay, and daily veggies there is no need for any other supplements. Pet stores put them out and claim animals need them just to make money off of them.

Don't worry at all.  Guinea pigs don't need salt licks.  I just give mine their pellets, timothy hay, water, and kale a few times a week.  I also give them wood chews so that their teeth don't grow out of control.  I have never given them salt licks and I have owned guinea pigs for eight years.

My Rabbits and guinea pigs have mineral sticks but i would think they would have to have it many people wont have them im sure if you have any more questions contact me on [e-mail] ill try to answer your questions as my guinea pig is ill at the moment

You can check out the Guinea Pigs Club, web address listed in the source area below.  Along the top of the website are click on tabs for things like foods, housing, care, etc.  It would be good for you to read that.  They do need Vitamin C not a salt or mineral anything.   They do need fresh water every day.  They can do without a wheel, but they do need exercise.  They are lovable creatures, aren't they?
