Let me first say that she is 90 days sober too. She attends 12 hours of 12 step meetings a week as well.

SHe was arrested and is out on bail. Her case has been continued 2 or 3 times. The DA is indicating that they want jail time. It could be up to 9 years. The court referred her to Drug court but when she went they told her she lived out of jurisdiction and she did not qualify. She does have a mother that lives in that jurisdiction though.

She is such a great girl and has a loving family. This has been a big wakeup call for her. She has gotten many letters from her Sponsor and such. She totally has owned up to her responsiblity and recognizes her weakness as being powerless over opiates.

Any advice would be so great. She has to go to court in September I think.

Thanks in advance..

  1. Finding another friend would be my advice.

She is not sorry for calling the the prescription, she is sorry she got caught.

You can thumbs down me now, but when you find your wallet missing, you will know I'm right.

  2. If she has owned up and taken responsibility, she needs to be willing to accept the fact that she will have to face the consequences of her actions.

Staying clean is the best thing she can do. More than likely, the judge will take that in to consideration. Even after she is sentenced, she could most likely get out early for good behavior and participating in any court ordered rehab programs (if any).

  3. A good lawyer would be the best answer. If she can't afford one, she needs to get in touch with a public defender. To show up in court without legal representation is looked down upon as irresponsible. Did she ask drug court if she could qualify by living in the jurisdiction? This would be a good question for Rush Limbaugh. He did the same thing and now he is working for a salary of $400,000,000. How's that for justice. My thoughts and prayers go out to your friend.
