Please help, do anxiety medicines calm you down and work?!?

I HAVE to go get anxiety meds before school starts because I have the worst fear of going back.... Seriously right now all im thinking is how people are going to need to drag me out the house and i'll be crying and screaming because I don't want to go..I have school anxiety REALLY bad.

please tell me anxiety will help me.. i'm so worried and my parents wont let me take school at home i'm so scard and nervous

  1. Anxiety medication does work.  You need to get evaluated by a psychiatrist to see what actually is going on.  They then can give you a proper diagnosis and treatment.  You also might benefit from going to a therapst because they can talk with you and help you to determine stratagies for dealing with your anxiety.


  2. temporarily yes... but if you make it habitual then it will abuse your health so better get rid of it. If you really stress and anxious.. get the cause of it. and try to relax yourself. maybe you go on a travel and turn off the phones and have a long time.

    first, why you anxious about school? Do you know that being a student is the best part of a teen age life. I am 36 and if there is one thing I want to do all over again is to be back in school. why? I meet lot of people. do some challenges.. have some fulfillments.. and enjoy a lot.  

  3. Anxiety medications may help. But your question contains the word, "work". My definition of work entails a cure. Naturally, medications for mental disorders cannot work when the problem has to do with how you think. The cure for anxiety lies in modifying how you think. If you really want a cure, read some of Dr. David Burns' books, like "The Feeling Good Handbook", or "When Panic Attacks". Either one will give you some exercises to do in order to overcome the thoughts that are making you anxious over going back to school.

  4. They only address the symptoms, not the cause. Ask yourself: WHY do I have a fear of school? See section 6 of my website, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on page N first. Section 9 has topics like" how to survive middle/high school" " making friends" , "being popular". Possibly try one of the herbal remedies, short term; don't come to rely on them, and you shouldn't need them after the first week.
