So I am a little over 37 weeks along with my first baby. I went to the doctor yesterday for my check up and they did a cervix check since they were already having to do a group b strep test. I wasn't dilated or effaced any. I started having a slight cramping feeling probably 20 minutes after. Now since last night I have had a very upset stomach and have had 4 bowel movements today alone. Also my breast are starting to leak. Do you think that this might be signs of early labor or that labor will start soon even though I wasn't dilated when he checked?

  1. sounds like your body is getting ready for baby to come, i was not dilated at all until i went into labor, but i went for zero to complete in 2 hours!! so good luck to you .

  2. No you are not going through labor.

    the back pain shall pass.

when you  are ready you will know , that you are going through labor for the pains will come minutes apart , and  your doctor will instruct you on what to do and when to go to the hospital. and when your water breaks,  then soon the baby will be reaching its way to the outside world.

    Get instructions from your physician.

  3. I would love to think you are going into labor! (Mostly because I went to the doc yesterday and got checked for the 1st time and experienced the same thing you have had including the BM's, and my b*****s are leaking alot more today too!)

I was being monitored in L&D though too because I had high blood pressure. I started getting painful crampy contractions, and thought it was my lucky day, and unfortunately, they subsided. I have had alot more BH Contractions as well too. I'm praying she comes soon....Unfortunately, it makes me think that since we both experienced the exact same thing, that it's probably normal. :(

    We will see :)

  4. It definitely sounds like early labor signs, but they can last weeks :-( If they checked your cervix, they might have started things along. Some of your membranes might have been stripped, thinning out your cervix. Some women start from scratch and deliver a baby 12 hrs. later, or you can be dilated to a 3 for a month and nothing happen! I hope things are coming along for you! How exciting!

  5. could be your body getting ready!

  6. Yes, it defintely could be

  7. Those are potential signs of impending labor.  If you start feeling lower back pain, and the persistent sensation that you have to p**p, it's more likely to be real labor.  Of course you should time the contractions and go to the hospital if they get to be 5 minutes apart.

Good luck. If you go 3 weeks early with your first child, I'm envious of you!
