Please help, my parents wont let me...?

I really really really really really want a pet dog. Ive wanted one all my life. But my parents wont let me. Its not because I'm not responsible, they know I am, as I have birds and fish that I take care of, but they hate dogs because they are messy, drool and do their business all over the back yard, and they hate them because they smell. I've tried to tell them that some dog breeds aren't so bad but they are simply refusing, no matter how much I ask. What should I do?

Guilt Trip? Tell them you are depressed and that people just don't understand you. Tell them you need something to love and hug when you are down. Anything like that usualy works for most parents.

yeah dogs are messy and nasty. I like cats. What don't you try a cat instead?

How old are you?  Seriously - this matters.  If you're young, then maybe they don't trust you to take care of piles and piles of dog poo.  If you're an older teen, then when you go off to college - who's going to be stuck with a dog they never wanted for four years (dogs aren't allowed at college).?

If you really, really want a dog - do some research.  What breeds don't smell, don't p**p much, are low maintenance?  Ask for one of these breeds.  Come up with a plan for taking care of the dog and for potty-training the dog.  Then show your research to your parents.  If they still say "no", then wait till you get your own place and get whatever kind of dog you want - and as many as you want.

If you want one, ask for a small dog.  Those don't leave around much hair nor drool, though their business is just the same.  Take care of it yourself, if you want one (believe me, I'm on your side, but if you want one it's kind of your responsibility) with doggy bags or whatever.  I don't have a dog but all of my friends do and I have to say the smaller dogs are the ones I like best specifically because they're much less messy.  Honestly, sometimes I start wheezing at my friends' houses with larger dogs because of all the hair, and I'm not even allergic! (I think...)

I love dogs! I have 2... they are hypoallergenic (means they don't shed) They don't drool, they don't make a mess, and they don't smell bad and so what if they do there business all over the backyard isn't it better then doing it indoors?? and you could all ways get a pooper scooper and doggier bags and put there p**p in the bags and through it out.  Cats are cool and all but they always hide and you don't really see them a lot but they are really cute and some cats aren'tt like that, No offensee to anyone thadoesn'tnt agree with me. Otherwise a dog is a great pet and the most loyal animals around! Big or Small!

your should look online of close pet shops and the kind of dog you want and keerp doing resarch on the pet so then they no u put alot or effort into this and they'll give up!
