  1. Yes you are entitled to the maternity grant, im going to apply for it next week. I only get tax credits aswell and i looked into it a couple of weeks ago so i knew where i stood money wise. You get more tax credits than me so you'll definately get it.

Good luck and happy spending, lol. x*x

  2. either ring yuor local job centre or hm revenue and customs, they would need to know all of your personal circumstances, cuz we dont, they will prob have a few more questions to ask u and good luck i wasnt entitled to it but i bloody need it! :( x

  3. they mean child tax credit at the higher rate for this it must include a lone parent bonus.

so you would only qualify if you claim tax credits as a lone parent

    hope this helps

  4. I honestly don't think anybody would be able to answer this question unless they work at the tax office and know all of your personal curcumstances!  The best thing you can do is go into your local jobcentre, explain you are not sure if you are entitled to the grant and they'll give you a number to ring.  (Sorry if this isn't helpful!)

I have to wait until after baby is born to claim mine, I'll be claining child tax credits and child benefit then so I can definately get it

  5. Can I get a Sure Start Maternity Grant?

You may be able to get one of these grants if your baby or your dependant’s baby is due soon, or was born in the past 3 months.

You can also claim if you have:

    recently adopted a young baby

in certain circumstances, been granted a residence order for a baby, or

been granted a parental order for a surrogate birth.

You, or your partner, must be getting one of these benefits:

    Income Support

    Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance

    Pension Credit

Working Tax Credit which includes a disability or severe disability element

Child Tax Credit, at a higher rate than the family element
