a. For a constant value of power, what is the effect on current if resistor is doubled?

b. For a constant value of power, what is the effect on current if resistor is halveed?

c. For a constant value of power, what is the effect on current if resistor is tripled?

  1. ok i assume you understand the relation ship P=IV where V is the Voltage, I is the current, and P is the power of the circuit.

    Since the power of the circuit is IV you need to find a relationship of power in terms of resistance.

    you should know that V=I*R so substitute that value for V in the power eqn

    P=i^2R  so...

    I = sqrt( P/R )

    You can then see how the current is effected by using a costant power and changing the resistor values.

    If the resistor is doubled the current is reduced, if halved the current is increased, if tripled the current is reduced even more than when halved.
