Hi,

Fuji FinePix S5700 (7MP) or Samsung S1050 (10MP)

I can’t decide on what camera to buy I’ve done some research on them both and they both seem pretty decent cams, I understand the huge difference on mega pixels, but I’ve been taking photos for around a year now, I think its time for upgrading and I also will be starting my photography course soon after the summer (sep). I currently focus on landscapes, nature, flowers, parties, weddings and gigs. so the cam must be gd for indoor and outdoor, please if any1 has got any1 of these cams please give some background info on them e.g. pic quality, iso, zoom quality etc

many thanks,

guys & girls =D

  1. Fuji S5700 is the Fuji S700. Numbers aren't even close, but it's same camera. Don't count on adjusting shutter/aperture priority, can't do it. Goes for around $170-

  2. I'm with Jimmy on this one. If you are taking a photography course at school they will almost certainly require an SLR either film or digital. If you really want to buy a camera now I would check with the instructor first and see what will be required.

  3. You are taking a photography course in Sept., don't buy a new camera now. When you start the class, they will have a type of camera for you to use in the class. These are usually SLR (film or Digital) cameras. You should just wait, otherwise you can end up buying another camera when the class starts. You will also get more out of any camera after the class.

If you feel you must buy now, I suggest the Fuji. Fuji makes cameras and imaging equipment first, Samsung makes TV's first. Fuji quality is much better than Samsung. Hands down.

  4. totally agreed with some contributors here, put it on hold and go for a DSLR like Nikon D40 or D60, u will know P&S camera just can't do the tricks.
