(alphabet+biography)

I have an English project and I have to have 26 pages.

A page for each letter of the alphabet to discribe myself and I have that part done, but here's the problem.

This is required

(1) Creativity- Did you take your time on this project or did you just throw it together.

(2) Uniqueness- How are you going to make your project stand out? What can you do to make YOUR project catch my eye.

(3) Included Events- Is everything included that is required of you?

(4) Final Presentation- You will present, to your classmates, 3 of your alpha-biography entries.

For each letter, I've picked a significant person, place, thing, or event that is or has been important in shaping who I'm today. I had to write a short synopsis(short summary)(5 sentences) about this event, person, thing, or place for each letter explaining why it has been important to me. After I finish writing the synopsis, I will have to write a short, 3 sentence summary of a life lesson that I have been taught from it.

My English teacher is looking for creativity and uniqueness in my project so any pictures, drawings, poems, etc. may be included in my project to stand out. Hew..

OK. So I need any ideas to make my project unique and full of creativity. I can't use posters.

All ideas are welcome. Please help me!!!

I really want an A+ on this.

  1. Call me a a geek, but this sounds like fun to me! ha!

    **************************************...

Anyway, if it were *me*, I would do a collage for each page. Another option is to do a collage for a front and back cover and bind it all together.

Gather photographs, magazines, text pages (from old books or magazines, or poems printed from a computer, words you like, etc.), ephemera/memorabilia (concert or play tickets, copies of recital programs or souvenirs from travels). You can use 3D items too if you scan them, or if they are small enough, you can use them, too. Get markers and/or colored pencils, paint, or any other "mark-making" items or combination of them.

You will need an adhesive of some kind. Glue stick works just fine for paper items. You will need something stronger for any 3D objects.

Put on music you like (if this won't distract you). The idea is to get yourself in a "zone" so you can not THINK about what you are doing but just choose what "speaks" to you.

Go through the images and start cutting or tearing out what appeals to you or addresses what you've already written. I really like textural elements (pieces of fabric or yard or leather or metal mesh or candy wrappers or anything with a different texture than regular paper).

Do the same with text, or type and print words (single words, phrases, paragraphs, or whatever).

Color or draw or doodle on the paper. (Use a heavier cardstock type or posterboard or whatever you might have on hand). Do NOT think "I can't draw" or "I'm not artistic." Just do what's FUN. Doodle and play with it.

Begin to affix your collage items in a way that's pleasing to you. You could make a picture using images or whatever as the individual elements, e.g., photo of field of flowers cut into shape of guitar, OR you can just make random placements, trying to create a pleasing (to you) composition.

When you're done, I would use a fixative of some kind (you can buy this in any craft or art store) or sealant to seal it. (ModPodge would work.)

What's cool about this is that this project is all about you, so anything YOU like is good. (Or, you could include imagery of what you hate, depending on what you want to do).

Another option on this is to do a smaller scale collage for each letter or page, with the letter or the topic you chose as the central element. (For A, say your item was Aunt Jane: photo of Aunt Jane with other things that relate to her or what she taught you, etc. OR, for A, you could have a capital A, along with things that start with A.)

    ***********************************

Other "things" that may inspire some ideas for you would be color-coding in some way (different pages with different tabs, and goo with that idea somehow).

Faux news articles (that you created)

A serious or silly poem on each section

If you *are* good at it, some cartoon-y or caricature typ of image on each page.

The reason I really like the collage idea is that it can be comprised of whatever you want, so it can fit whatever theme you need, any color scheme you like, elements that are meaningful to YOU or relative to your written project. This project is about you, and the collage can be very reflective of YOU. I really think that you will love actually DOING it, as long as you are not critical of yourself and remember that it's about YOU so there is no "supposed to be" about it. No way it's "supposed" to look or has to look "good" or anything else.

    Good luck with your project!
