Please help!!! Can anyone tell me why my DVD player on my computer will not burn?

My DVD player is said to be working properly under my device manager, and my burning program recognizes the dvd player is there, but when I try to burn it just stops and goes really really slow. I am not sure what is going on or how to fix it. It has been working fine until I unhooked it the other day in the back (by accident). When I reinstalled it, it will not work properly. Any ideas on what is going on?

Open your cpu up, and make sure the wires are plugged in right, and then reinstall it.
