  1. Yes you need visas for all three places and you have to apply at their respective websites and for Kashmir are you entering from the Pakistan side or the Indian side, depending on that you will need to apply with either India or Pakistan.

  2. Yes, you will need an visa from the Indian Embassy in USA. Americans are granted up to ten year visas (for a fee) a longer duration than any other country I know of. Ladakh is a special region likely requiring a permit. Kashmir, you will have no problem going to Srinager but outlying areas are carefully monitored by Border Patrol and restrictions may apply. Kashmir is beautiful but not the Shangri La it used to be as the conflict with Pakistani separatists has taken a physical and phychological toll. Dal Lake houseboat enterprises have suffered and so has the lake form pollution.

The Indian Embassy in San Francisco was very helpful. If you are in that area they have a walk up counter for visas or you can Express Mail them. You will need two photos. I suggest you stay strictly as a tourist as any other designation opens up all kinds of bureaucratic scrutiny and questions.

    Namaksar !

  3. no you only need a visa if you are entering the United States

  4. Not necessarily a visa but they'll need a passport.

  5. If your passport is not 6 months old when you go then no you will not but if it is then yes you will.

Check with a travel agent they will tell you because I just got this info from mine last month
