The midpoint of segment AC has a coordinate 5. If the coordinate of A is greater than the coordinate of C, and if BC=9, what are the coordinates of A and C?

  1. B is equidistant from A and C. Since A is greater than C, A must be 5 + 9 = 14.  And C must be 5 - 9 = -4.
