Please help...Getting internet to a desktop computer?

I have DSL internet on my desktop computer on the 2nd floor of my house. How do I get internet for another desktop computer in the same house but on the 1st floor? What do I need to buy and do? Please kindly explain, I'm not a computer wiz. Thanks!

  1. You need the following.

    1. Network Hub/switch

    2.  CAT5/CAT6 cable with Straight connection(2-3) and Cross-over Connection(1)

    What you need to do:

    1. Power on the Network Hub/Switch.(you can search and look for a hub here: http://www.bizrate.com/networkhub_switch...

    2. From DSL modem/router, connect the cross-over cable from your DSL modem/router to any port of your Network Hub/Switch.

    3. Use the Straight cable to connect to the first PC on the second floor.(In this situation,the DSL modem/router is in the 2nd floor)

    4. Use the other straight cable to connect to the ethernet port of your second computer on the first floor. (This must be a long cable to reach to the second computer)
