Well basically, i've had 3 fish for 2 weeks. This morning one died :( We don't know what caused it but it died :(. I have noticed one of the remaining goldfish looks a little ill :( Her tail has started fraying real bad and it's quite a small tail now :(:( She keeps just 'sitting' still and i'm scared she'll die tonight :( Can anyone give me any help on how to keep her alive through the night, and what I can buy tomorrow to make her better? Umm...She is orange & white (orange on top white on bottom) She is average goldfish sized. If this helps. Please can I have serious answers and not mean ones :( P.S she can still swim up to the top to get her food but atm she is just lying on the bottom... Please helppp :(:(:(

  1. I can never keep a pet fish for no longer than about 3 weeks because really I'm no expert and fish are REALLY sensitive to the water they are in. I mean it has to be at the right PH all of the time meaning not to acidic and not too alkaline. Just neutral but its so hard to keep it that way when you clean them out because of your tap water and stuff. I got told to keep a 3rd of the dirty water in and then the rest fresh water. Alternatively by a filter :)

PS: Don't bother buying all these chemicals over the counter that are supposed to help 'clean' or 'balance' the water because they don't work and just pollute their fresh water. Best thing to do it learn from it. I don't know whether you'll be able to save your fish. I would just maybe change a bit of the water though? Maybe a cup full or so?

Good luck and I hope you have more success at keeping fish than I did, ;) xx

  2. She has fin-rot.

Buy your fish liquid or tablet form medication to treat this and quarantine her.

I hope this helps your little fish. :[

  3. Ok...gimme some answers here...how big is your tank???Did you cycle your tank before putting the fish in??...How often do you change water and how much??..What are the water parameters??Ammonia, pH, nitrites and nitrates...and What filter do you have on the tank???

Answer these questions and I will EDIT.

  4. it might be depressed about the other fish that died. Animals are like that.  You will just have to let it be.

  5. 3 goldfish would require a 40 gallon tank.  From the sounds of it you have them in something much smaller and your water quality is so poor they are dieing of disease and infection.

  6. just flush her down the toilet, its over.

  7. How big is your tank and do you have a filter? either of these could be your problem,if you don't have a filter or your tank is to small. Also what kind of goldfish do you have fancy goldfish are the best ones unless you have a very large tank as most other types are meant to be pond fish.
