  1. Start out nicely.

Very nicely, tell everyone that you are going to have to start getting more sleep -- tell them your plans are to go straight to bed when you get off of work in the morning ... and ... you just wanted to let everyone know that you can call them - or visit them - after you wake up .. (unless there is an emergency).

Also - you could make arrangements for them to leave you a phone message ... just make sure the phone won't be in a place where it will wake you up when it rings.

  2. Just turn the phone off!!

  3. I worked nights for 11 yrs the best thing to do, unplug your phone. You can explain untill you're blue in the face; no one gets it until they work the shift.

If they keep getting a busy signal until you wake up and plug your phone back in they will have a good idea when to get a hold of you. Post a large note on your door or buzzer, Not Availiable!!

    Good Luck

  4. If your lunch break is at 3 in the morning i don't think your going to get any calls, unless your friends and family are night owls.

Tell them that your sleep is important! You value your job and u want to be nice and awake and attentive for the people you work with or for. (I dunno what you do for a living).

Stress to them that they can see you on your days off when your not working or sleeping.

  5. Tell them your work hours are at night, and you sleep during the day. Turn off your phone, put a sign on your door. Let your voice mail pick up the calls.

Do you work at a hospital?

    Answer me.

    A star for you.

  6. Leave a message on your answering machine  saying you are on graveyard shift and currently sleeping,so to please leave you a message. Then be sure to mute the ringer and message machine so it won't disturb you.Post a big note on the front door that says DO NOT DISTURB - SHIFT WORKER SLEEPING!! when you go to bed.I wondered where you went, nice to see you again : )
