Please help! I'm having really bad heart palpitations?

I am in my 20's, am 5'4" 130lbs, and I go to college. I'm not very active other than walking to classes all the time. Well, I have always had heart problems. I sometimes get chest pains and I get heart palpitations probably 2 times a week. I've gotten an EKG, and other tests done and doctors have no clue what could be wrong with my heart.

I just started back at school though, and the palpitations have gotten worse. I got a new roommate so I'm very stressed. I have tons of classes and on my first day is when I started getting palpitations throughout the entire day. The past couple hours I have been getting them about every 10 seconds. It only happens when I move my body around or my breathing becomes irregular for a minute while I bend over or move my body around in some way. It's not painful, just very uncomfortable and worrying. I have never had them this often. What could be causing them to occur so often now and should I be worried? What can I do to prevent them from occurring so often? Please help me, I am very very worried.

  1. Sweetie go to a doctor! It does sound like stress induced panic attacks though but get it checked out now!!

  2. don't ask on yahoo answers!

    go to the freaking doctor!

  3. Stress will do it.  Do you have a high caffeine intake?  That could be a cause (even diet coke will do it).  See a doctor and ask about beta blocker pills (granted that there are no "physical" problems such as blockages or murmurs).  I had the same problems and beta blockers help when the palpitations get bad.  An alternative could be surgery...they'd send an instrument through your femoral artery (long story, but ask about beta blockers)

You may also need some thinners because with a lower/inefficient blood "flow" through the heart chambers, clots can sometimes occur.

  4. You should go to the nearest hospital and have your heart examined. Its maybe due to stress or sometimes triggered by what we eat.in the hospital they'll perform the so-called ECG to examine your heart. No other can help by that other than the doctors.because they can see any underlying complication in that. Thanks and God bless.

  5. First off, if you are ever in fear of your health or of a condition getting worse you should always go directly to the doctor. I am not in the medical field however i am happy to give advice. it seems to me that your body is reacting to stress. Not only stress to the new class schedule, but also new living conditions. Now if you have a predetermined heart condition, the mental stress can expedite the condition. If relaxation seems to help then I would think that is your body telling you that you are too stressed. If this is the case, your mind may also be your culprit, you are worried and stressed over your condition, which makes the symptoms worse.

  6. you might be stressed because as you said its the first day of class and you have a new roommate. try to relax and take a deep breath but don't hyperventilate.you may also try having a back massage.tomorrow make sure that you will see a doctor.

  7. Y! Answers in not a doctor...... if you're so worried you should probably be there instead of at your computer.

    *facepalm*

  8. GET A FREAKING SECOND OPINION!!!!!!!!!! dont rely on the university's school doctor

  9. Anxiety attack or thyroid problems. Both will cause weird heart palpitations.

  10. I had the same thing it is stress try meditation to calm yourself.I went on anti anxiety medication and they stopped. They are scary and worrisome and I had all the tests and a halter monitor also. everything was anxiety (nerves). Some times a mild script for zanax could help check with your DR.

  11. same thing happened with me.  the dr. did an EKG, nothing too abnormal.

do you drink slimfast or some sort of weight loss drink?  anything with that specific active ingredient will increase your hear rate to enhance weightloss... but really it feels like you're going to have a heart attack.

see your doctor, contemplate your diet and exercise routine, and watch what kind of pills/supplements you take
