  1. I just figured out in the last week what i wanted to be when i graduate, a journalist.  To reach your conclusion, think of the kind of life that you want to lead.  Where to you see yourself in ten years?  How much money do you want to make?  Do you want to travel?  Do you support a family and do you own your own home?  Where do you want to live (ex. suburbs, city, farm)?  Also, think of what you are good at and what you enjoy.  For me, i love to travel, i'm pretty good at writing, and i love meeting new people.  Also, i want change.  Think of your strengths and what you enjoy and how you envision your life to be in the future.  Search for a career that will help you reach those goals.  www.bls.gov is a great website to investigate aspects of different jobs, such as the pay, the usual daily activities, and the prospective growth of that particular job.  I hope i helped :-)  it is very hard to be a nurse without seeing blood or needles at all.  my mom is a nurse and she does a lot of paperwork, cleaning up after patients, setting up machines, and handing the surgeon tools to operate.  it is very repetitive.

  2. thanks for answering my question, now to yours.. i can completley understand the situation your in, going into my last year of high school, parents and all harrassing me about what i want to study later on and what i'm going to do after high school and truthfully i tell them that i have no plans for my future, as of now i'm just floating along with the current of life and seeing where it will take me. i was once told that you can narrow down what you want to do by removing from your options the subjects you hate most rather than choosing the ones you like

  3. It's different for everyone. There are some people that choose a direction as a kid and follow through with it. It is not that simple for most people. A lot of people just work a particular job to pay the bills not because it is their dream job. It's ordinary to re-evaluate things every few years and make changes. Write down your interests, skills and goals. See where those things take you.

I don't know anything about the fashion industry. I am not sure what a fashion stylist does. Check out the websites of your favorite fashion magazines and see if they have internships. Call or email someone that has your ideal job. Fashion sounds like something  that requires major networking. You need to be sociable. Make friends with models, fashion designer, photographers and journalists.

If you want to work for a magazine then you need check out the ways to break into that field at all angles. I can think of a few. It's either as a writer, graphic designer or business person. You can study journalism, graphic design or business administration. Find out if there are any additional paths or if any those paths suit your skills/interests.

You do not have to be in medicine or public service to help people. You can volunteer and help people. It doesn't have to be your actual job. You could be a fashion stylist that donates clothes to the homeless.

This is a difficult time to enter the workforce and it requires flexibility. You might have to think more about what employers are looking for instead of what you want to do. It's hard to sell something if people are not buying it. The publishing industry is facing hard times and the economy is rocky. Find a education that uses your strengths to help you get a job and seek further fulfillment in hobbies. Create a fashion blog and maintain it regularly with a professional presentation. It could be your portfolio when you seek job opportunities.

    Good luck.

  4. This is a bit of a difficult question to ask. Mostly because the fields you are aiming for are so diverse. I don't know if each of those fields actually take 4 years to finish. Nursing is a bit longer than four years if you want to keep improving in your career. Now a days it's not just go for 4 years and you're done. Sometimes you need to keep going to get more knowledge. The blood issue is a bit of a problem I think. Yes there are some nurses that don't deal with blood but I think that is going to limit you as far as opportunities go. Fashion well I don't have much information on that other than I think it's very cut throat and fast paced and if you are a good designer and have talent then I would say go for it. Since you are going to college and are still debating on what you want to do, you can always take the general ed classes that will work towards both careers and as you go to school you can invest more time into what you really love more and want to do. The worst thing to do is go to school for something that once you get a job at you hate. Speaking from experience I don't think you are the only one that may have difficulty choosing a career. Sometime things happen in life that give you the answer of what you really want to do just keep your mind and eyes open. I hope what I wrote made sense.

  5. there are a number of factors that go into choosing  a carrer for your self.  nursing doesnt pay so much, but you dont have to really work your way up.  Fashion pays very high but you can't just start your own line because you feel like it.  Tyr interning for some of your potential carrer paths and in the end choose one with heart.  There are a lot of good four year programs in both areas that you mentioned.

  6. Well first find out what you like about the jobs...then find out what you don't like...

and then you see which one has better quality's....then find out which one is better for you and oneday you will find out!

    luv ya

    XOXO
