fill in the chart given this linear equation: x+7y=4

example : x = y

-2 =

-1=

0=

1=

2=

  1. you plug in the number on the left for x

    EX: instead of x+7y=4

    (-2)+7y=4

    then you simplify to 7y=6

    and: y= 6/7

    Then you repeat.

    x+7y=4

    (-1)+7y=4

    (-1)+7y+1=4+1

    7y=5

    7y/7=5/7

    y=5/7

    example : x = y

    -2 = 6/7

    -1= 5/7

    0=

    1=

    2=

    Hope that'll be enough...i dont know how to explain it any deeper.


  2. first isolate Y:

    1)  7y=4-x

    2) y=(4-x)/7

    now replace X with the numbers below...

    for example the first one would be:

    y=(4- -2)/7

    which simplified would be

    y=(4+2)/7

    y=6/7

    therefore -2=6/7 of if you must use decimals just devide 6 by 7 to get 0.85714285714285714285714285714286
