  1. My Mom always said to gargle with warm salt water, seemed to work for me

  2. eat cough drops and drink lots of water... ooo - and eat clementines/oranges! (it may sound strange, but they help!) i hope u get well soon! =)

  3. gargle with warm salted water

  4. a full tablespoon of pure honey INSTANTLY soothes the sore throat

  5. One remedy I've read -Gargle with warm water mixed with half tsp Bayberry powder and half tsp sage leaf. Necessary to make a tea out of it meaning boil the water, brew 5 minutes, strain and cool.  Bayberry's botanical name is Myrica. Ayurvedic herb books list these herbs which can be taken as teas--Licorice-which needs to be boiled because it is a root, unless you get powder or other form. It is pretty good I think. I've taken it many times. Other herbs listed are--Burdock, coriander (seed powder), mint tea, red clover and chrysanthemum. If you want to try any you'll need a health food shop probably. IN which you may also find some Echinacea lozenges or other sprays appropriate for sore throat. I think I took 'Sambucca' once. That was good.

Other than this, the right homeopathic remedy can fix it in a flash but you'll need to visit a homeopath or else the health food shop may carry some basic remedies for common ailments.

Everyone has already told, gargling with warm salty water so I need not say more about it.

Ayurvedic book also gives the Ayurvedic herb Bhibitaki (mixed with honey) if it is available to you. Also says to macerate rose petals in honey and take but most roses have sprays on them so I wouldn't be rushing to try that one unless you have organic roses.

I find diet is often the key. Sometimes just taking something cold brings on a sore throat, and avoiding any more cold things can give relief. That means--ice water, ice cream, yoghurt and rice also.

If it is cold weather then keep warm, keep the throat covered and drink lots of warm water. Herbal compresses, particularly made from Ginger are supposed to be helpful. If you have a cold then drinking ginger tea is helpful.

I've experienced a natural therapy in which one places a light piece of wet cloth (wrung out) on the body, (throat or belly usually) then wraps a woolen strip around it and leaves on for an hour or more. It warms up and blood comes to the surface which is supposed to help in the healing. It seems good but to do things like that you may need more advice which is probably on the internet. That's all.

  6. What's worked for me is to gargle with hydrogen peroxide, obviously making sure you don't swallow any. After the peroxide, I gargle with warm salt water.
